Sash Balances

What is a Sash Balance?

A sash balance (also known as a spring balance) is a spring loaded device which provides counter-balance in box sash windows. Sash balances remove the need for sash weights, pulleys & cords and, as they are moving parts, need replacing over time.

Is Your Sash Balance Broken ?

If your sashes are not gliding up and down smoothly, or not evenly opening and closing on both sides, it may be that one or both of the sash balances is broken. They are located on the window frame jamb running vertically from the top to the bottom of each sash window.

If you’re having difficulty with your sash windows, we can provide a professional opinion as to whether you may need a replacement sash window or if it’s simply a minor repair you may be able to carry out yourself.
