Most single glazed timber sash windows are cold and draughty in the winter and people naturally want to replace them with something better than plain modern plastic double glazed windows.
We’ve been installing French doors in London for almost 30 years, all of which have been custom designed and manufactured in our West London workshop. Our French doors are created to enhance the character, features and heritage of London’s period properties.
A sash balance (also known as a spring balance) is a spring loaded device which provides counter-balance in box sash windows. Sash balances remove the need for sash weights, pulleys & cords and, as they are moving parts, need replacing over time.
Casement windows have advantages over sash windows because they’re mounted differently. Being side-mounted and opening horizontally, casement windows allow more of the window area to be opened so more air to can circulate in your room.
